About fishing licence UK

If you are caught fishing without a licence you could be fined up to £2,500.

You can buy the following licences online:
full licences
junior licences (12 to 16 year olds)
eight day licences
one day licences
Anyone over the age of 12 fishing in fresh waters must have a valid rod licence. You can buy these online at the Environment Agency website.

Whichever licence you choose, it will cover fishing for coarse fish and non-migratory trout only, or include migratory salmon and sea trout.

Fishing licences prices in 2008

Any angler aged 12 years or over, fishing for salmon, trout, freshwater fish or eels in England (except the River Tweed), Wales or the Border Esk and its tributaries in Scotland must have an Environment Agency rod licence.
